BEES first meeting with SUFC.

Mark Fenoughty -

Top Bloke!

Saturday was my first visit to The Lane this season, which by the way was a magnificent sight, I'd urge you all to visit at least once before the end of the season. Having been collected by Jerry at Leeds airport we drove down the motorway to Sheffield for a pre-match meeting with Mark Fenoughty, the purpose of which was to discuss arrangements for our BEES Day at the Spurs game and a few other issues.

Mark met us as arranged and showed us into the Platinum Suite. As we enjoyed an extremely decent pint of Pedigree we chatted about the BEES in general. Mark's Dad, Tom Fenoughty ex-Blade player and our specific ideas for the Spurs game. Mark was very friendly and genuinely interested in what we are doing and clearly happy to help us set up the day.

I've listed below the main outcomes of our chat, which I think are very positive.

1. Arranging a block booking of 30+ seats for the Spurs game is ok providing we pay in advance. We can agree on precise details of numbers and payment at a later date.

2. It isn't possible to have a link from the official website to the BEES due to contractual conditions imposed on the club by their site supplier. It may be possible to have an article about the BEES on the Blades site and include a link to the BEES on a one off basis. I suggest we do that a week in advance of the Spurs game. We can discuss content with Mark nearer the time.

3. Mark will investigate the use of the Tunnel after the match and hopefully with some refreshments.

4. As for contacting Sean Bean, we would appreciate the club contacting him to say who we are and that as a fellow Blade exile we would appreciate him being our honarary President. This would require him to do no more than to send us a letter saying he supports the idea of the BEES and agree to be President. The club can assure him that we do monitor the site and use the same rules of behaviour as the Blades site. Ian Boydon will write a letter for the club to forward to Sean.

5. Finally, I repeated our offer to help and work with the club in anyway we can in generating awareness of the Blades and providing the club with feedback from our fan base. I think the club does need to look into using modern technology to create a supporters club, a chat room is not the answer.

Next steps will be to confirm numbers and to get flights and hotels booked. I don't think Ian and I can help too much on flights, but I know Ian is contacting hotels in Sheffield to see if we can get some sort of discount for a bulk booking.
