24th
January 2006Windsor Cricket Club and The Rotary
Club of Windsor and Eton are delighted to announce that
Windsor-based commercial and industrial property insurer,
FM Global, will be the headline sponsor of a charity
cricket event they are organising which will be known as
the FM Global Lord's Taverners Cricket Match. This is to
be played at Home Park, Windsor on Sunday 23rd July 2006
between a Windsor Cricket Club XI and a Lord's Taverners
XI.
The event is jointly organised by The Rotary Club of
Windsor and Eton as part of its 75th Anniversary
celebrations and Windsor Cricket Club for whom this will
be their annual President's Match. The Lord's Taverners
are a club and charity originally founded by a group of
cricket loving actors in 1950 which now has 4000 members,
mainly from the world of acting and showbusiness, and in
2004 their grant aid amounted to over £1.8 million. All
proceeds from the event will go to the Lord's Taverners
Childrens Charities, Rotary Charities and Windsor Cricket
Club's Youth Development Programme.
This will be the most high profile cricket match ever
staged at Windsor Cricket Club involving many well known
personalities, but above all it is intended to be a fun
event for all the family played on a ground which has been
recognised as one of the best settings in the country.
More details about the event, including a list of the
active celebrity cricketers and their supporters, can be
found at
www.taverners-windsor.co.uk. Significant among these
is actor Colin Salmon (best know for his role in James
Bond) who took time out of his busy schedule to attend the
signing of the sponsorship deal at the offices of FM
Global (see media below)
FM Global is a commercial and industrial property
insurance company with a strong risk management focus
which established its international headquarters at
Windsor Dials in 2000. Since then it has more than trebled
its earnings, won the Queen's Award for Enterprise and
been voted European Business Insurer of the Year in both
2004 and 2005 and now employs 250 people in its Windsor
office.
Martin Fessey, director of market and business
development at FM Global commented "We are delighted to be
involved in this event and to contribute to what should be
a great day out for everyone."
The principal local organisers of the event are the
current Rotary Vice President - Ron Lewandowski, and
President of the Windsor Cricket Club - Tony Monk
supported by an active and enthusiastic organising
committee.
