MATCH RESULT - HILLINGDON WON BY 128 RUNS

Windsor 3rdXl suffered a 'Jemini experience' on Saturday as
they were seriously outpointed by Hillingdon, in a Thames Valley League at
a sun kissed Home Park. Thankfully, given the physique of the Hillingdon
players, they did not expose their midriffs during their dance of delight
as they enjoyed their comprehensive victory.
Batting first, Burger smashed a sizzling 44 off the first 8 overs of the
innings. The pattern was well and truly set for the next 3 hours.
Hillingdon adopted a policy of pure aggression as they sought to build a
substantial total. As the runs continued to flow, two of Windsor's
experienced bowlers tried to stem the tide. Ken Lawrence bowled his
special brew of cunning away swing and picked up a couple of well deserved
wickets and skipper Andy Wigley returned admirable figures of 10 overs, 24
runs, 1 wicket. Considering the flood of runs emanating from the river
end, this was an immense achievement.
Hillingdon used up all of their allocated overs and finished on a colossal
272 - 4.
Windsor's response was weary as they slumped to 8-2. On such a
gorgeous day, it was rather ironic that a huge black raincloud hovered over
Windsor 3rdxI's reply. Kevin Clifford & Roger Evans decided that the best
form of defence was attack and they initiated a vigorous riposte. A
rainbow was suddenly visible amidst the gloom of the Windsor performance.
The score rattled along to 78 - 2 at the drinks break and Windsor were
looking well placed to post a respectable reply. However, immediately
after drinks, Evans fell for 34 & Clifford went for 39, the black cloud
returned and Windsor folded limply for 144.
After an encouraging start to the season, this was a set-back to the
aspirations of Windsor CC 3rdXI and they will be looking to bounce back
against local rivals ICI 2ndXI.
