Bore Draw at Royal Ascot

Windsor 4th XI - 231 for 6 (52 overs) S. Martin 104, C. Light 35, O. Smith 32 not out, Moore 2-46, Mohammed 2-62.

Royal Ascot 3rd XI - 134 for 7 (48 overs) Charles 27 not out, Mohammed 26, Baker 20 not out, H. Singh 3-42.

Windsor 4th XI improving form was halted, by a negative Ascot side, who made sure the match ended in a boring draw. Windsor Skipper Light, won the toss and decided to have a bat on the dry/flat Ascot wicket. This proved a wise move and the top order held up well until the impressive Mohammed took 2 wickets in 2 balls to leave Windsor with plenty of work to do at 73 for 3 off 22 overs. With the ever dependable Scott Martin at the crease Windsor pushed on. Martin hitting his 4th century of the season, giving him an incredible total of 694 runs in only 9 innings at an average of 116. With Martin's dismissal in the 44th over, skipper Light came to the crease to join Smith. They hit the ball to all parts scoring 60 runs off the last 7 overs, leaving the home side with a big target to chase. In reply, Acot were pegged back quickly. A lively opening spell by Lewis & Singh literally left the Ascot openers on the back foot. With only 20 runs scored off the first 10 overs it was obvious Ascot were not going to reach the target set. Before long they decided to play for a draw. Impressive bowling, especially by Singh with figure of 20 overs, 3 for 42 keep the batsmen in their shells. Even rotating the bowlers didn't work, leaving the superior Windsor side frustrated with their 13 points.
