Like a Christmas Turkey……Stuffed

Windsor 3rd XI 115
Endacott 29

Haste Hill 1st XI 115/2

Haste Hill won by 8 wickets

A makeshift Windsor 3rd XI side, decided against a week off cricket, opting to take on Haste Hill, at their compact ground in Eastcote.

Making their debuts for Windsor were, Aussie overseas star Tristan O’Shannassey’s Father Pat and Brother Aiden, drafted in to make up the numbers, plus Windsor Boys’ School hockey master Richard Cardigan.

Captained for the first time by Rick Baumgartner, Windsor were put into bat and immediately on the defensive. The Haste Hill attack made little work in removing both openers, Baumgartner and O’Shannassey jnr. Windsor soon rallied with Cardigan and the impressive Colt Sam Condon easing Windsor through the gears, they were followed by usual number 11 Endacott, who blasted a quickfire 29, including the only 6 of the game. However, Haste Hill wrapped up the Windsor innings cheaply, with some tight bowling. The highlight of the afternoon came when Pat O’Shannassey scored his seventh run, one more than his 20 year old Son.

Haste Hill soon got off to a flyer, desperately swinging the bat at anything that moved and remarkably connecting, unfair on Wahab Mohammed, who was bowling with genuine pace. Endacott picked up the first wicket with a Kenny Lawrence-esque delivery, a tribute to the great man, who had taken the week off. Haste Hill soon accelerated and despite some great fielding by Adrian Lillywhite and Sunil Suriya, passed the total with ease.

Windsor now face a derby against local rivals Maidenhead & Bray, in a return to league action, desperate to increase their precarious points total to date.
