Windsor vs Farnham Royal MASL

Sunday saw Windsor take the trip over to Farnham Royal as they resumed their Sunday campaign after a week off. On winning the toss and electing to bat Windsor suffered the early blow of losing Davis in the first over. However, this brought the brothers Huggins together at the crease and fire works were to follow as they added 82 together in the next 8 overs. Mark been particularly brutal with 48 from just 26 balls including 9 fours and a six which left a dent in his girl friends car carefully parked by himself on the boundary. With Mark gone Paul soon followed miss timing a cut off the bowling of Sandford. This left Windsor with some work to do and Greene and Gould started to repair the damage before Gould was deceived by a slower ball from Sandford. This brought another youngster to the crease in Ashraf who together with Greene added 73 for the 4th wicket. Greene was to go first ball after completing a well made 50. Noble and Ashraf kept the score ticking until Ashraf was stumped looking to push the score along. Some sensible batting along with some controlled hitting by Thompson and Noble saw Windsor on to a good total of 265.

Farnham’s reply got off to the worst possible start as they lost Bucknell for 0. Coupled with some tight bowling by O’Shannessy and M. Huggins Farnham were soon behind the run rate. However, disaster struck in the 8th over as Huggins was struck by a powerfully hit drive from Pulsford in his follow through forcing the big soft pace man from the field leaving Windsor to continue with ten for the remaining 32 overs. With the change in the bowling Farnham soon upped the tempo with Pulsford opening his shoulders. His dismissal only brought Sandford to the crease who continued where he left off blazing his way to 53 before falling to the bowling of Noble. Windsor soon found Farnham’s batting line up wrestling the game back in their favour as Andy Jackson smashed a quickfire 26 including 2 six’s. However, he and Ball both fell in quick succession leaving Iqbal and Spencer with some work to do needing 75 off the last 12 overs. With Windsor down to 10 with strike bowler Huggins off the field Windsor could not contain the two as they saw the Royal Home with an over to spare chalking up a 5 wicket win.
