Windsor U9s Match Report - 4 May 2008

Windsor u9s began their West Surrey League matches with a visit to Bagshot. Playing under overcast skies on a damp wicket (hardly surprising!) the boys were keen to play cricket which bodes well for the rest of the season.

Bagshot won the toss and elected to field first which gave the Windsor boys first chance with the bat. Batting in pairs all the boys made good contributions and showed that, with a little practice, they will be able to make larger scores as the season goes on. Deciding when to run and calling (yes/no/wait) are something we will be working on. The innings finished on 232 which for their first game and on a damp pitch was a competitive score.

Bagshot started well but some good bowling, great catching and enthusiastic fielding saw wickets fall and Windsor finally restricted Bagshot to 218 to win their first match.

Throughout the game, the boys skill levels improved and they showed a very good team spirit. Thanks to Martin Forder for umpiring and helping the boys during the game and to Bagshot for being very good hosts.
