2009 season starts at last
After four games that have had to be cancelled for various reasons Windsor U14's had their first game this evening against Royal Ascot played at their ground in the middle of the racecourse in the U14 WSYCL.
Windsor won the toss and batted first. having scored a boundary and a six in the first three balls the openers steadied a bit (in fact a bit too much) and the team went on to score 139 for 1 off their allotted 20 overs with Jamie Tuthill having to retire on 51 not out, Gareth George making 47 not out and Conor Reeves coming in with less than 5 overs to go adding an unbeaten 26 runs to the total.
Windsor followed this up with a tidy display in the field with Adam Richards, Theo Evered, Arjun Ghattaura, Cameron Avery and Callum Maley all picking up wickets ably supported by their team mates fielding and this limited Ascot to 113 for 7 off their 20 overs. The game was played in a great spirit with both sides contributing to a very pleasant afternoon's cricket.
So a reasonably comfortable win to start the season off for WCC U14 but a long way to go to emulate their colleagues of last year!.
