Sanghas Sunday Seconds Season Review
Sunday 2nds had a most enjoyable Season with many of the matches going the full distance with the results being in the balance going into the games last over. This is exactly what Cricket should be about.
The highlight of the Season was undoubtedly our 6wicket victory over a strong Burnham side. An excellent bowling and fielding display restricted Burnham to 160 odd (check with Gary exact score if you need it), and then with our side wavering on 60 for 4 and behind the clock Andy Wigley and Steve Green gradually settled in and then basically knocked the stuffing out of Burnham. A great win on a hot day.
With Messrs Green and Wigley, Kenny Lawrence and Ian Crawshaw joined Gary and formed the core of the team throughout the year. Wayne Lloyd was our target behind the stumps, and he also chipped in with some timely runs.
I am sure our all-round experience and agility in the field boosted the confidence of the younger personnel in the teams, which tended to vary each week due to availability.
Nevertheless the Season was hopefully enjoyed by all, and I for one will return for another go next Summer
