Windsor 4th XI 199 All Out (50 Overs) S. Martin 80 not out, A. Johal 32, C. Light 25, Viney 37/4, Smith 51/2.

Amersham 3rd XI 176 for 7 (50 Overs) Iguana 45, Viney 37, Mackintosh 20, R. Lindsay 16/2, S. Martin 19/1.

Result - Drawn Match

In an match surprisingly uneffected by rain, Windsor 4ths continued their improvement in this tough encounter. Winning the toss and deciding to bat, Windsor's top order once again struggled to put any parterships together. Great use of the new ball by the Amersham openning bwolers left the home side reeling at 32/4 after the first 10 overs. This brought 16 year old Johal to the crease, who together with star openner Martin, steaddy the ship until the colt holed out on 32, after 4 concecutive boundaries! Light came to the crease at 101/5 and continued the good work putting on another 68 with Martin before being bowled attempting a rash slog over mid wicket. Following this, the tail collapsed, with Martin still trying to keep things together. Cornish being the last man out with the total one short of 200. This left the once again superb Aussie Opener on 80 not out, with the best of the bowling coming form Viney 4/37, who skittled out the tail.

In reply Amersham made a steady start, but for the early wicket of Thomas caught behind off of the bowling of debutany Lindsay, bowling his first delivery for some 14 years! Some tight bowling especially by 'Man-Of The Match' Martin (13 Overs for just 19 runs) and inspired fielding, left 110/3 after 35 overs. At this point Amersham seemed to lose interest in winning the game, needing 90 off of the last 15 overs. This gave the initiative to Windsor, who in attempting to pile on the pressure, took some quick wickets, including 2 run outs, leaving Amersham pleased to see the overs roll by. In the end, even with excellent bowling by Windsor didn't quite have the bowling attack to dismiss Amersham, with a hard fought draw being a fair result.

A HARD DAY'S NIGHT!

Hampton Hill 3rd XI 229/6 (52 Overs) Coates 46, Bryant 38 not out, Wells 36, Khanna 25/2, R Hughes 56/2.

Windsor 4th XI 159 All Out (38.5 Overs) S. Martin 67 not out, B. Lewis 27, Dileepan 12/4, Karthik 24/3.

This early season friendly was effectively wrapped up in 2 overs around 6.00pm that evening.

Hampton Hill made a strong start with an opening partnership of 62 which was broken with 2 quick wickets by Windsor opening bowler Robin Hughes. This only caused Hampton's flow of runs to stutter slightly. Pushing on, by the 40th over only 15 year old Ashwin Khanna had made any further in roads and a strong finish gave them a good total of 229 on a fairly lively wicket. In reply, Windsor made a disasterous start. The 2 Hampton Hill opening bowlers ripped through the top ordering leaving the batting team on 5/4! This was headed up by 13 year old Dileepan's swing bowling, with 3 early wickets. This left Windsor with only survival on their minds. Bravely top Windsor batsman Scott Martin dug in, with able support from Michael Gegg (16) & Ben Lewis (27) hitting some powerful strokes. After getting to 3 figures, the pressure finally told with further wickets falling and Windsor struggling to 159 all out, with Martin finishing on 67 not out.

All in all, it was a friendly, and there is hope that Windsor can take some positives from the game.........
