Marlow Park 3rd XI vs Windsor 4th XI - Saturday 22nd August
Windsor 236 for 8 (50 overs) C. Light 67, O. Smith 57, E. Atkinson 5-73.
Marlow Park 140 for 7 (50 overs)
For the 6th time in row, Windsor skipper Light lost the toss and his side were put in on a greenish Marlow Park wicket. The opening pair got off to a steady start before, Bullock was hit by a sharp delivery in the lunchbox, leaving his protection literally shattered in pieces. Understanderbly Bullock went soon after. Following this, Light decided to hit the ball to all parts, athough steadily losing partners. When he was eventually out out on 67, it left Windsor 112 for 5 after only 26 overs. This left both colt Ollie Smith & Vice Captain Michael Gegg to pick up the pieces and they put on 75 for the 6 wicket to push the away side close to the magic 200 mark. A maiden 50 for Smith including 3 sixs, bodes well for Windsor in future years. A quick flurry of runs from Surya & Hartrige at the end, left Windsor able to declare on 236 for 8 after 50 overs.
In reply, Marlow Park were never in with a siff of winning the game. Rob Hodgon's fine swing bowling kept runs down to a minimum and took care of the opening batsman. Swing bowling was the order of the day, with Light taking 2 wickets in 5 balls before drinks to leave the home side 5 down for a mere 60 runs. A wicket with the 1st bowl after drinks kept the pressure on, but then knowing they had no chance of victory, the home side's middle order literally dug in. The negative tactics were highlighted by the number 6 batsman scoring a mere 3 runs in 25 overs of bowling. With this Windsor the found the final breakthroughs require impossible to come by. A frustrating end to the afternoon!

A Roasting Day in More Ways Than One!
North Maidenhead 4th XI 119 all out (30.3 overs) H.Singh 5-22
Windsor 4th X1 123 for 5 (27 overs) S.Martin 44 not out, T.Houghton 30
Windsor 4’s continued their climb up the table towards promotion with a convincing victory away at North Maidenhead. On a hard and bouncy wicket it was the Maidenhead skipper that won the toss and elected to bat in the hope of setting Windsor a challenging total..........he obviously hadn’t taken into account Windsor’s new ball attack of Harvey Singh and Scott Martin!
Martin’s 8 overs for only nine 9 runs put a stranglehold on the home side, but it was the consistent line and length (not forgetting the deadly swing!) of new ball partner Harvey Singh who created the real damage. His impressive figures of ten overs, five for twenty two, were made even more impressive because of the soaring temperatures he had to bowl in. Despite a couple of huge sixes and fours from South African Brizuidenmout, further wickets from Khanna, Bannerjee, Light and Johal brought an early tea interval with the Maidenhead skipper having to ponder just how to defend a total of 119.
Windsor started their reply brightly, with a breezy 30 from promoted pinch hitter Tim Houghton, a solid 16 from youngster Sam Condon together with a 44 not out from the Aussie run machine Scott Martin guided Windsor home to put them fourth in the table, with a game in hand over the teams above them.

Windsor 4th XI vs NPL Teddington 4th XI - 2nd August 2003
Windsor 4th XI 225 for 8 (50 overs) S. Martin 79, T. Houghton 43 not out.
NPL Teddington 4th XI 107 all out (43.2 overs) A. Khanna 4-22.
Winning the toss, NPL put Windsor put in on a green, damp Windsor track, with the hot sun on their backs. NPL were soon rueing that decision, with reliable opening bats of Martin & Bullock putting on a stand of 87. The usual Windsor collapse followed, leaving the home side 157 for 8, with a total of 175 looking likely. Bowlers Houghton & Singh had other ideas, hitting the ball to all parts, reaching a Windsor 4th XI record 9th wicket partnership of 68, before declaring on 225.
The big hitting at the end of the Windsor innings gave Windsor captain Light those extra runs to play with, but these were not required as the opening bowling attack of Singh & Martin made sure NPL didn't get off to a flyer, leaving the batting side struggling on 18 for 0, after 12 overs. With the required rate rising, 15 year old, off spinner Ashwin Khanna was brought into the attack with immediate affect, taking 4 quick wickets leaving NPL realing. Lewis, Light & Singh joined in the fun leaving the visitors 8 down with only 50 runs on the board. The NPL 9th wicket pair then dug in putting on a 50 partnership, until a comical run out gave Windsor the chance they needed to finish things off. Houghton, on a high after his excellent knock, took the ball and clean bowled the NPL number 11 to leave Windsor with the 25 points and still in with a sniff of promotion out of Division 7B.
