Windsor 4th XI vs Chiswick & Latimer 5th XI - Saturday 26th June
Chiswick & Latimer 114 all out M.Lynes 4-19
Windsor 118 for 5 S.Martin 70
Windsor 4's promotion aspirations were back on track with a comprehensive victory over second place Chiswick & Latimer. The win saw Windsor leapfrog Chiswick into second place. Acting skipper Michael Gegg lost the toss on a damp Home Park wicket and his side were put into the field. 15 year old Berkshire colt Mark Lynes was the pick of the bowlers picking up an impressive 4-19 on what his senior debut for the club. His left arm inswing troubled all of the Chiswick batsman and the pressure brought about by the other bowlers, Khanna, Lewis, Holmes and Martin and clever bowling changes by skipper Michael Gegg confined Chiswick to just 114 runs.
Windsor set off the run chase at a canter, and despite the early loss of David Holmes, Shaun Bishop and Amit Johal, aussie Scott Martin and returning university batsman Pete Griffiths went along at just under 8 an over. Martin eventually succumbed on 70, but it was great to see the aussie run machine return to form in some style. In form middle order batsman Tim Houghton and Johnathon Holmes saw Windsor home in just the 16th over!

NPL Teddington 4th XI vs Windsor 4th XI - Saturday 19th June
NPL Teddington 278 for 8 T.Radley-Brown 83, N.Harris 75, C.Light 5-74
Windsor 188 all out Hittin 46, S.Martin 34, T.Sullivan 6-41
Windsor's promotion bid faltered on Saturday as they went down by 90 runs away at NPL Teddington. 75 by Teddington skipper Harris and a rapid 83 by Radley-Brown helped Teddington put a daunting 278 on the board for the loss of 8 wickets. Windsor captain Charles Light was the pick of the bowlers picking up his first five wicket haul (5-74 off 19 overs). It could certainly have been a different story had catches been held, Harris was put down three times, including a dolly when only on 2!
Windsor set about the run chase at a canter, Martin and Hittan put on 74 for the first wicket going at over 6 an over. The required ran rate was met all the way through, but despite starts by all of the top order including Houghton 33 and Holmes 24, Windsor simply run out of wickets and they were bowled out for 188. A disappointing total having been 185 for 5 and thus losing their last five wickets for just three runs. Sullivan was the pick of the Teddington bowlers taking an impressive haul of 6-41.

Windsor 4th XI vs Marlow 3rd X1 - Saturday 12th June
Marlow 148 all out A.Saunders 45, S.Martin 4-30, C.Bristow 3-38
Windsor 151 for 7 J.Holmes 34no, N.Saunders 4-49
Windsor 4’s climbed up to second place in the table following an impressive win over previously unbeaten Marlow 3’s. Stand in skipper Michael Gegg won the toss and put Marlow into bat on a 'bowl first' wicket. Lines and Saunders got the visitors off to a great start reaching 100 from the opening 20 overs for the loss of only one wicket.Gegg then introduced the spin of Scott Martin to the attack, and rotated his seam attack of Ollie Birch, Ben Lewis and Colin Bristow at the other end, the tactics paid off as the next 29 overs went for just 48 runs and more importantly 9 wickets were taken. Scott Martin was the pick of the bowlers taking 4-30 from his 15 over spell.
Chasing 149 for victory, all the Windsor batsman got themselves a start but no one really went that next step and wickets fell, apart from the solid Johnathon Holmes. The 15 year old colt came to the crease and his impressive 34 not out, guided Windsor home to 20 well deserved points.

Windsor 4th XI vs Maidenhead & Bray 3rd XI - Saturday 5th June
Windsor 175 all out T.Houghton 76, Woodvine 4-27
Maidenhead & Bray 176 for 4 C.Jacobson 107no
An impressive innings of 76 by wicketkeeper Tim Houghton wasn’t enough to prevent Windsor 4’s from their first league defeat of the season.
Having lost the toss Windsor knew that with their side besieged by bowling unavailabilities they had to look for a score in excess of 200 to stand a realistic chance of forcing a victory with the limit bowling resources available.
However the top order batting that had been so impressive the week before at Ascot suffered a total collapse as Windsor fell to 52-5. Houghton who had scored a terrific 50 the week before came to the crease and took the attack to Maidenhead ably supported by the lower order at the other end, and Windsor managed to push themselves to175 and 8 precious batting bonus points.
With only one seam bowler available in the shape of Colin Bristow, who hadn’t played for two years, 175 was always going to be hard to defend. But the combination of Bristow, Light and Martin (who bowled 18 successive overs) did well to peg back the Maidenhead batting and with only ten overs remaining they still needed over 5 an over. However with wickets in hand combined with tired bowlers, meant their target was reached for the loss of only four wickets, mainly due to an impressive 107 not out from Jacobson.
Windsor should not to be downhearted though, the resolute batting to take them from 52-5 to 175 all out and the spirited bowling by the three available bowlers shows strength in depth. With bowlers due to return for this weeks top of the table clash at home to Marlow, they can go into that game with confidence.

Royal Ascot III vs Windsor 4th XI - Saturday 29th May
Windsor 239 for 4 S.Martin 80, T Houghton 59no
Royal Ascot 89 all out A.Parsley 20, C.Light 3-7, J Bannerjee 3-34
Windsor’s impressive start to the season continued on Saturday away at Royal Ascot. Royal Ascot won the toss and put Windsor into bat on an uneven and slope assisted wicket. The Windsor openers set off at a frantic pace scoring 85 off the opening 15 overs. 80 from Scott Martin, together with a debut 30 from colt John Holmes and a quick 59 from wicket-keeper batsman Tim Houghton allowed Windsor to declare in the 43rd over with 239 on the board for the loss of only 4 wickets.
It meant Ascot had to score an unlikely 240 to win or bat through a mammoth 57 overs to survive with a draw. Windsor’s last two games saw the bowlers dismissing the opposition for 69 and 68 respectively, so hopes were high of victory despite the unavailable quicks Ben Lewis (on 3rd XI duty) and Harvey Singh. Quick bowler Jay Bannerjee ruffled up the Ascot top order and his 8 overs brought a reward of 3 wickets for 34. Captain Charles Light had a hat-trick opportunity, O’Sullivan and Davies went in successive balls and Putt provided the hat-trick opportunity, but it fell to the ground just short of Jay Bannerjee in the field!
David Holmes brought the Ascot innings to a close having Aldridge stumped by wicket-keeper Houghton, and Windsor’s winning margin was an impressive 150 runs, and made it three weeks running that Windsor had dismissed their opponents for under 100.
